During the EEMGS / CSSMC 2025 conference in Bratislava, Ann-Karin (Anka) Olsen was officially introduced as the new President of the European Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EEMGS) for the upcoming two years.

Anka is a molecular biologist transformed into a toxicologist, with a strong focus on genetic toxicology, genomics, and reproductive toxicology. She has long-standing experience both in the laboratory and in regulatory risk assessment of chemicals. In 2024, she transitioned from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health to the Climate and Environment Institute NILU, Kjeller, Norway, where she joined the Health Effects Group.

We also take this opportunity to thank Amaya Azqueta from the University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain, who served as EEMGS President with great dedication and will now continue to support the Society as Past-President for the next two years. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing the mission and visibility of EEMGS.

We thank both Anka and Amaya for their commitment to the EEMGS community — and we look forward to the future of the Society under Anka’s inspiring leadership!
